Consumer Directed Services

Many disabled individuals requiring help at home desire to have more control over the assistance they receive. With Consumer Directed Services, a program managed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, they can stay at home and be in charge of their own care.
In this program, the consumer is the employer and has the freedom of hiring and directing his or her own attendants. Oxford HealthCare serves as a vendor to provide the necessary administrative support services.
Attendants provide assistance with activities of daily living to help maintain or increase independence. Some of the services include:
- Dressing
- Transfers
- Personal hygiene
- Bowel and bladder elimination
- Preparation and consumption of food/drink
- Shopping/Transportation
- Maintenance and use of equipment, aids, prostheses
- Ambulation, housekeeping and other functions of daily living
Oxford provides the following administrative services:
- Training on hiring and supervising attendants
- Background checks on attendants
- Payroll and billing processing
- Help in completing necessary forms
- Assistance in dealing with problems that may arise
Individuals are required to meet criteria based on income and level of need. A Division of Senior and Disability Services Case Manager and Oxford Care Coordinator can help determine eligibility for the program.
